Tom Lawrence

For the past twenty years I have dedicated my professional life to helping people heal, grow and make positive changes in their life. I am a fully qualified Human Givens Psychotherapist and Counsellor, Coach and Cognitive Hypnotherapist, and a recently retired Acupuncturist and Oriental Herbalist. This gives me a deep knowledge of a wide range of therapies and remedies so I can help clients in a variety of ways, selecting the best approach for the individual’s specific situation and condition.

It is a real privilege to do what I do and my training and work has given me a unique understanding of mind and body from Eastern energy theory, philosophy and ancient wisdom, through to modern Western psychology, neurobiology and detraumatisation work. This broad reach enables me to help people holistically, empowering their whole life.

Before moving to Edinburgh 2010, I ran my own health centre in the Highlands. Previously I ran a successful practice in London and was the first to take acupuncture into large companies such as Microsoft’s HQ in Reading. My first career was in media - television, publishing, and film and video PR - and this, like all life experiences, helped broaden my perspective on the world.

Alongside my private practice, and until the financial damage wrought by Covid 19, I was a director of the Healthy Life Centre in Edinburgh – a not-for-profit enterprise that provided a wonderful service enhancing the wellbeing of all those who stepped through the door.

I am also the author of Smiling the Moon, published by Hay House in August 2013. It's an allegorical tale about the journey of life, revealed through the bond formed between a runaway boy and a wise and powerful ‘gnoseer’ (shaman). The original intention was to write a self-help book based around the insights gained through my practice over the years, however the main characters kept coming to mind, ‘insisting’ on being written down, and so I followed the intuition and thankfully a popular novel is the result which is available on Amazon and Waterstones. [There’ll be a second book one day...]
